If you have questions or things to point out, please comment here or email us at comicstorewatch@gmail.com.
Q. Do you link to manga or anime-related posts?
A. No. Their fandoms don't really overlap with the comics we cover, and we are looking specifically at comics and their related franchises. We believe the manga fandom has enough exposure.
Q. Do you link to manga web-comics?
A. Only IF they're brand new and would like to be announced. They generally have their own fanbase, and since they aren't really comic books and don't appear in a comic store, we're not covering their updates.
Q. What sort of comics and their franchises do you cover?
A. All of them. :) Comics, novels, movies, cartoon, etc. We cover the major publishers like Marvel and DC to Dark Horse and all the independent publishers. If we're missing activity for any comic-related fandom, please point it out to us.
Q. What sort of fanworks do you link?
A. All of them. :) While we will post anything from any comic or related franchise fandom, we will also post slash (male/male, female/female), het (male/female), or gen (no pairing) works. If it offends you, please don't read it.
Q. What is your criteria for linking fanworks?
A. Editor discretion. At a minimum, posts/fics must have a minimum of spelling and grammar errors and art must be presentable and able to be viewed clearly. While we will not try to be elitist, if a fic or art looks messy, we will not post it. We do not require headers, but they do help us realize a post is fic or art.
Q. I've written fic/made icons/started a discussion/etc -- will you report it?
A. Yes, most likely. Comment to the latest entry (all comments are screened) with a link and a description and we'll take a look at it.
Q. Someone else has written fic/made icons/started a discussion/etc -- will you report it?
A. Yes, if we see it. Comment to the latest entry (all comments are screened) with a link and a description and we'll check it out.
Q. I have a new community, will you pimp it?
A. Sure! Just comment to our latest entry and we'll pimp it in our next issue.
Q. I have a comic fandom or related franchise website. Will you link it?
A. Maybe. We link fandom related websites, but we don't link to personal archives/sites. Just let us know about your site and we'll take a look at it.
Q. Do you link to RPGs?
A. Yes, IF they haven't started yet and are accepting member applications.
Q. You don't have someone/a community friended at
comicstorewatch that you should. Why?
A. We probably simply do not know about them. Comment in the most recent entry and we'll check it out. :)
Q. Do you only mention and/or friend those well-known in fandom?
A. No way. We link to and friend anyone and everyone. Just let us know about them and we'll definitely check them out, even if they're the newest of the newest newbies.
Q. Do you link to fandom drama?
A. No. We don't want to cause or encourage wank.
Q. Do you link to friends-only posts?
A. No. If something we've linked to has become friends only, please let us know.
Q. How can I become an editor?
A. To become an editor, contact comicstorenews @ gmail.com with your name, LJ username, what days you'd be available, and why you want to be an editor at
comicstore_news. If we no longer have editor spaces available, you can still apply and we might add you as a back-up editor, in case an editor gets sick or drops out.
We currently have our editorial positions filled, but are always looking for back-up editors.
Please note that to be an editor or back-up editor, you need to:
* Have basic HTML skills - bold, italics, links, etc. I'm not a teacher.
* Have a fair amount of knowledge about the comics fandom.
